Whether you are just visiting or a seasoned local, TYTO with its numerous outlets and accompanying annual event programme full of activities, workshops and special events, has something for everyone year round. The TYTO Information and Wetlands Centre is the number one place to start, with dedicated staff and volunteers who will share their specialist local knowledge of TYTO and the Hinchinbrook Shire to ensure you maximise and enjoy your visit. Opening Hours

TYTO is open 365 days a year for you to enjoy with many public open spaces. Individual outlets are open as follows:

TYTO Amphitheatre

As a public space this area is open 365 days a year for you to enjoy however should you wish to use it for a function it must be booked through our Conference and Events Coordinator.

TYTO Conference and Event Centre

Open Daily as per hire terms and conditions. Office Hours for all enquiries and bookings: Monday to Friday – 8.00am to 4.00pm Saturday and Sunday – By Appointment Only.

Accessibility

TYTO is an accessible destination for all visitors. If you have any questions about access or facilities please contact the TYTO Information and Wetlands Centre.

Parking Each carpark has disability parking bays.

Bathrooms Standard disabled bathrooms are located at The McIlwraith Street Public Restrooms and the TYTO Conference and Events Centre

Animals at TYTO

Dogs and other animals at TYTO Animal lovers are welcome to bring their friends to TYTO for some fresh air, parklands and sunshine. Being an environmental destination we do however request that you adhere to the following rules:

  • Domestic animals must be on a leash at all times and are welcome in the TYTO Parklands and built areas of TYTO including walkways and Piazza.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted in the TYTO Wetlands.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted to swim in the lagoons.
  • You must clean up all waste created by your animal.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted into any outlet unless as seeing or hearing impaired aid for patrons.

Facilities

A range of facilities are available at TYTO for your convenience, we are only a short stroll to the main street of Ingham which has further facilities you may require.

Bathrooms There are four public bathrooms at TYTO with the main one being at the McIlwraith Street entrance off the main Piazza. There are also smaller rest rooms at TYTO Information and Wetland Centre, TYTO Conference and Event Centre and the onsite Café.

Please note all bathrooms close when the facilities close. 24 hour public access toilets are located on Herbert Street at Rotary Park.

Parent’s Rooms There is one Parent’s Room at TYTO located in the main public toilets, McIlwraith Street entrance off the Piazza.

Lost Property All lost property is returned to individual outlets. You may report your loss to the TYTO Information and Wetland Centre and they can contact you should anything be handed in. Any lost property handed in is registered and kept for a maximum of 3 months and then those items that can be donated are provided to charity and others are discarded.

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) TYTO has no onsite ATM’s however there are numerous tellers a short stroll away in Lannercost Street representing/accepting most major banks. All of our outlets have access to EFTPOS facilities for your convenience; they do not however provide cash out.

Getting Around

Public Transport Currently Hinchinbrook Shire has limited public transport.

Taxi The Ingham taxi service available for your convenience can be booked via Direct Bookings: 0407 771 917. Please note it is advisable to book in advance.

Walking and Cycling Walking and cycling are healthy, affordable and environmentally friendly ways to access and get around TYTO. The built area of TYTO is accessible by connected access pathways and an elevated walkway. Most areas are accessible for all visitors. Most pathways are pushbike friendly and shared access is available with pedestrians having right of way at all times. We do ask in the key area of the centre for cyclists to dismount for safety and the enjoyment of all patrons. These areas are clearly signposted. Please cycle slowly throughout TYTO; ring your bell to alert pedestrians that you are approaching; be aware of wildlife and adhere to all signage.

Bike parking areas are also available with your own lock. We are also a short stroll, via footpath to the main street of Ingham – Lannercost Street.

Location

TYTO is located on the southern approach to Ingham in the heart of the Hinchinbrook Shire. Depending on what you are coming to see and do we have four parking areas for your convenience including bus access and designated parking areas. The individual outlets of TYTO are connected by pathways and an elevated walkway through the parklands with most areas being disability friendly. Please see Parking and Access for further information.

You will find a wonderful array of souvenirs and unique gifts, many made by local artisans throughout TYTO Outlets with dedicated gift shops in both the TYTO Regional Art Gallery and the TYTO Information and Wetland Centre.

For your convenience and depending on what you are coming to see or do the following information will assist you to park as close and as conveniently possible to your destination. Or you can choose any area and meander via our pathways and elevated walkways – everything at TYTO is connected.

TYTO Amphitheatre

Best access via McIlwraith Street or Macrossan Avenue carpark. Both have dedicated disability parking. Handy Tip: Macrossan Avenue  access path to the main centre does have an incline. McIlwraith Street carpark has a handy 5 minute drop off area and has flat access to the main centre including the onsite Café.

TYTO Conference and Event Centre

Best access via McIlwraith Street or Macrossan Avenue carpark. Both have dedicated disability parking. Handy Tip: Macrossan Avenue access path to the main centre does have an incline. McIlwraith Street carpark has a handy 5 minute drop off area and has flat access to the main centre including onsite café. For those who have hired the centre and require direct access to deliver equipment, catering or other supplies vehicle access to the piazza and hence main centre is available with prior arrangement.

Hinchinbrook Shire Library

Best access via McIlwraith Street however easy access is also available via the Macrossan Avenue carpark. Both have dedicated disability parking. Handy Tip: McIlwraith Street carpark has a handy 5 minute drop off area and has flat access to the main centre including the onsite Café.

TYTO Information and Wetlands Centre

Access off the Bruce Highway to Cooper Street with a dedicated car park.

TYTO Parklands

Access via Cooper Street, Macrossan Avenue and McIlwraith Street. Please note the built area of TYTO is accessible by connected access pathways and elevated walkway.

TYTO Regional Art Gallery

Best access via McIlwraith Street however easy access is also available via the Macrossan Avenue carpark. Both have dedicated disability parking. Handy Tip: McIlwraith Street carpark has a handy 5 minute drop off area and has flat access to the main centre including the onsite Café. For those who are exhibiting there is a dedicated loading bay with access off McIlwraith Street. Please ensure prior arrangements are made with gallery staff for this access route.

TYTO Wetlands

Access off the Bruce Highway to Cooper Street with a dedicated car park at the bottom left of the street. The Wetlands have 4km of dedicated pathways for your convenience.

Bus Access

Drop off points are located off Cooper Street in the TYTO Information and Wetlands Centre and on McIlwraith Streets with coach parking available in the Cooper Street carpark.
