Gladys Rose Mann
I have always wanted to paint, but lifestyle constraints meant I didn’t begin until the mid 1990’s when I joined the USA Drawing and sketching group on the Sunshine Coast only to find there was no tutor.
Using a self help book I began pencil landscapes and after 12 months progressed to acrylic colour.
I paint “Pretty Pictures” and am happy with what I produce.
Another interest is singing. I am a member of Filippo’s Continental Singers, singing Italian Folksongs an interesting challenge – and am also a member of the Herbert Valley Voices, singing on ANZAC Day, Carols, and at civic events, also with the Australia Day Choir.
As a member of Forrest Beach Progress Association, it is interesting to see what is happening in our community. I also belong to Forrest Beach QCWA and am convener of their Healthy Living Group where I teach gentle stretching weekly. We also discuss a broad range of health topics.
I still teach belly dancing and benefit from its gentle, fun exercise.
I’ve been on the Australian Italian Festival Committee for some years now and never cease to be amazed at how the “nuts and bolts” come together to stage it. Volunteers enjoy being a part of it.
