Coupled with its complementary facilities including Regional Art Gallery, Shire Library, Recording Studio, award winning Information and Wetlands Centre, Amphitheatre, Wetlands and Parklands it is ideal for creating conferences and events with an imaginative twist, set in a spectacular natural environment.

With access to incredible break out spaces and activities that cover TYTO’s four core pillars of Art, Culture, Nature and Knowledge there is no equivalent within the region.

Bathed in natural light complements of multi bi fold glass doors adjoining a Piazza and courtyard, the main Conference and Event Centre overlooks tranquil lagoons speckled with birdlife.

A range of equipment, catering and operational options are available and assist in providing absolute flexibility. Located on the southern approach to Ingham, the heart of Hinchinbrook, North Queensland just over an hours easy drive from Townsville, we are close enough to be a world away.

Jacana Room

A spacious, versatile space ideal for conferences, exhibitions and banquets. With a décor that exudes a modern, industrial ambience, the Jacana Room also includes the added option of interconnecting with the adjacent room offering flexible room configurations. Glass bi fold doors on the Eastern side open to a large undercover open area and glass doors on the Western side open out into the TYTO Piazza, offering an abundance of natural light and stunning views of the TYTO Wetlands.

Whistler Room

A flexible, versatile room, bathed in natural light and overlooking the TYTO Amphitheatre and Wetlands. Adjustable walls on either side facilitate varying capacities and configurations and bi fold doors on both the eastern and western side provide easy access to break out areas and amenities.

Monarch Room

A functional and multifaceted room overlooking native gardens with easy access to adjoining break out areas. Sun-bathed and airy, the room features glass bi fold doors across the western wall that can be opened to adjacent meeting rooms. Alternatively, fixed roller blinds to all windows and doors provide absolute privacy and segregation from adjoining rooms.

Located in the TYTO Regional Art Gallery building, the Wagtail Room is private and intimate, suitable for small meetings or breakout sessions. Featuring 12 dual power outlets and high speed Wi-Fi, it is the perfect incubator for computer classes and technology workshops.

With a spectacular Lotus filled lagoon and mountain range horizon as a backdrop, this purpose built amphitheatre provides a relaxing grass area with terraced seating suitable for a range of activities.


Centred in TYTO are manicured parklands with tranquil lagoons creating a relaxed ambiance with immense versatility.


A modern interpretation of town centres of ol, the piazza, a tribute to early Shire heritage, can be annexed from the centre or transformed into a stand-alone outdoor function space.

The Paper Grove

The Paper Grove is a relaxed alfresco locale, set among the shade of Australian Paperbark trees all the while overlooking tranquil lagoons. With purpose built log seating arced to complement the area it is an ideal venue for intimate events including weddings.

With moveable walls and adjustable lighting, the 156 square metre space offers absolute flexibility and diverse functionality, ideal for VIP events, dinner parties and cocktail functions for up to 100 guests. Art Gallery Workshop

Offering privacy and seclusion, this is the perfect space to host a workshop or a creative activity. Situated amongst works from exhibitions past, featuring a large work bench and small kitchenette, the workshop has everything you need to be inspired and create.

Situated within the Hinchinbrook Shire Library, the Double Daw Creative Studio is a very private and intimate space offering absolute seclusion with audio proof walls and double doors. It is an ideal space for music, photography and videography workshops, small meetings or breakout activities. Experienced sound engineers, recording equipment and musical instruments are available on request.

TYTO Information and Wetlands Centre

The Centre’s cathedral ceiling and ambient lighting accompanied by natural melodies radiates a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. The fully accredited Information Centre boasts interpretative and interactive displays making it the perfect space for cocktail functions, workshops and break out activities.


The following prices are based on facility hire of the rooms only and do not include Event Coordination by TYTO. If you would like TYTO to assist in the coordination and styling of your event please contact one of our Event Coordinators for more information.

Basic room setup, standard equipment and conference furniture is included in the price. All prices are inclusive of GST.


Provision is made at no additional charge for all standard equipment required to host your conference or event, in the main centre. TYTO has a range of modern, ergonomic equipment including ceiling mounted data projectors with VGA connectivity and an integrated sound system with lectern and microphones. All rooms and public areas of the TYTO Conference and Events Centre have complimentary wireless internet access.

Light refreshment packages are available for your convenience in-house or bespoke menus to suit all budgets can be accommodated via external caterers championing local, organic produce and traditional dishes from some of the 23 nationalities represented throughout the shire. Nestled in the Herbert River Valley is a rich landscape famous for it’s cane farming, the Hinchinbrook Shire. Bounded by World Heritage Hinchinbrook Island, secluded beaches, tranquil rainforests and pristine water holes it is a way of life that offers you and your guests a destination that can be whatever you desire – a tranquil escape or adventure filled itinerary.

Enjoy a leisurely day on Lannercost, treat yourself with peach blossoms and a creamy latte while you take in the retail wares, flowers and continental delights. Marvel at the Mercer Lane Mosaic and the colourful history of Hinchinbrook Shire or stop, shop and take something home that brings you pure joy… Shoes, handbags, frocks, homewares and flowers, specialty stores are a plenty.

Venture off the beaten track, capture Wallaman Falls, the largest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere or spot a platypus in the pristine waters of Broadwater National Park, step back in time and hike the historic Dalrymple Gap Track or make your way up the winding roads of Mt Spec and relish in the wonders of Little Crystal Creek.

Perhaps a day by the ocean is what you have in mind. Visit the Lucinda Jetty and drop a line while you take in glorious Hinchinbrook Island. Marvel at the Sugar Terminal Jetty, an engineering masterpiece, measuring 5.7km long and following the curvature of the Earth. Head to Forrest Beach and enjoy some crumbed Spanish mackerel under the shade of a coconut tree or cool off with a dip in the safety of the stinger net.

Go one step further and venture abound to Hinchinbrook Island and experience lush tropical forests, laced with fresh water streams and enchanting waterfalls. Navigate East and weave in and out of the Palm Islands, stop off at Yanks Jetty for a snorkel before visiting Fantome Island, once a leper colony or just find a quiet spot to drop the anchor and bask in the glory of Mother Nature.

Short on time? Meander along the modern architectural walkways of TYTO that represent the bins vital to the regions mainstay industry sugar cane or connect via casual pathways, bridges over lagoons and through wooded parklands to scale the 11m observation tower for a birds eye view. Watch the many species that inhabit the TYTO main lagoon or view the lay of the land. A great photo opportunity!
